GreyHair
Alchemy Pty Ltd was formed in February 2002. Its purpose is to provide
management and sales expertise to high tech organisations on an ad-hoc basis.
The
current economic climate, together with rapid advances in technology, has
created a striking effect on employment in the high-technology ‘smart'
industries ranging from manufacturing to education, but particularly Finance,
IT and Communications.
In the
heady, bullish times companies will employ large numbers of experienced
people. They need these people - technologists, executives, sales and
marketing people - to leverage on their talents to achieve aggressive
high-growth targets. These rare skill-sets would be utilised for twenty to
thirty percent of the working week, with the remainder being taken up by more
mundane endeavours such as paper work, meetings and socialising.
Of
course, in economic downturns these people become victims of severe cost-control
measures, usually retrenchment. Some are snapped up by the large consulting
firms with accounting or legal backgrounds; some take early retirement,
funded by their retrenchment package; and some become independent consultants
in a one-man practice.
Their
skills are still desperately needed by industry and so the consulting firms
thrive, as do some of the independent consultants. The problem faced by the
independents is that whilst they are fulfilling the current contract, they
can't be out selling themselves into the next contract, unlike the consulting
firms that have specialist sales people (Partners) selling the services of
the consulting teams.
GreyHair
Alchemy is a co-operative of mature, competent professionals - the
‘Compatriots' - who desire to market their skills on a task-based or project
basis. It appeals to both the professional who doesn't want to embrace
permanent retirement and the lone consultant who would like to have an
additional someone seeking out work opportunities. That someone is GreyHair
Alchemy.
How do we do it?
By
pooling our skills and talents in the GreyHair Co-Operative. The Compatriots
have identified each other and come under the GreyHair Alchemy banner through
networking.
- The Compatriot identifies the vacancy /
opportunity through Networking and passes it on to GreyHair
- GreyHair assists the client to define the
particular requirement,
- GreyHair identifies the Compatriot with the
optimal mix of skills and experience,
- GreyHair introduces the GreyHair Compatriot
to the client,
- GreyHair supports the relationship duration
of the assignment.
Neither the client nor the GreyHair Compatriot is charged any sort of
registration or joining fee; the client will pay a commission only when
a concrete assignment is undertaken.
This
allows the client, perhaps otherwise hindered by a headcount constraint, to
bring in an expert to assist with a particular need and pay only for the work
required - no unproductive time, no holiday or sick leave pay, no overheads,
no extraneous team members.
You define the Need; we'll match it with the
Expert.
